Windows & Doors
It is best to remove all screens and replace them with storm windows and doors.
Make sure you properly store the screens in a dry area.
Check for peeling or blistering paint on your exterior walls, as that’s a sign that the paint is no longer protecting the siding.
Loose siding shingles should be addressed as to not become a hazard during fall and winter storms.
Roofing & Gutters
Don’t neglect to check your roof and your gutters.
Look for missing or loose roof shingles.
If your roof is not functioning properly, you are risking deterioration to your insulation, wood, and drywall.
This also puts your electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems at risk.
Make sure to clean out all of your gutters and downspouts after the leaves have fallen.
Broken gutter systems can lead to dangerous ice dams in the winter.
